As the new variant of COVID-19, “Omicron,” is set to be a rising concern, the Indian government has revised the old SOPs and issued a set of new guidelines. Till now Omicron cases have been confirmed in 23 countries with the highest case report from South Africa (77 active cases).
In the recent advisory issued by the Indian government, every passenger flying to India will have to register themselves on the Air Suvidha Portal, stating their travel history of the last 14 days before departure irrespective of the vaccination status. And, an RT-PCR negative report also needs to be uploaded while registering.
The advisory further reads, “Separate holding area (while they are waiting for their RT-PCR test results), maybe demarcated for the passengers coming from ‘at-risk’ countries in each airport, with proper amenities for passengers, ensuring that COVID Appropriate Behavior is strictly followed including protocols to avoid congestion.”
To facilitate the easy process of testing all the passengers arriving in India, airports will set up RT-PCR booths and other precautionary measures to provide a hassle-free experience.
